STANDARD HOME COMPUTER WARRANTY

The computer is defined as the central processor unit (including all originally installed components), monitor, keyboard and mouse. All other peripheral devices (printers, scanners, etc.) are excluded and carry the manufacturers own warranty.

This computer carries a 10 year non transferable warranty. The warranty commences from 1st day of collection/delivery of the machine. This warranty is split into two sections; Hardware and Software as defined below.

Hardware related problems YCL builds

Year 1

The machine will be repaired on-site* and include all parts and labour with the following exceptions:

  1. Faults caused by third party hardware.
  2. Faults caused by software of any description including viruses.
  3. Faults caused by misuse or accidental damage.      

Yarm Computers will make best endeavours to respond to the registered address within 3 working days of a fault being logged with us during normal working hours Monday – Friday 9.00 am to 5.00pm (excluding bank holidays).

* We reserve the right to return your PC to our workshop in order to carry out the repair under controlled conditions should it be deemed necessary by the engineer.

Hardware related problems Notebooks

Year 1

The machine will be repaired as per the manufacturers warranty and must be returned to Yarm Computers Ltd:          

  1. Faults caused by third party hardware.
  2. Faults caused by software of any description including viruses.
  3. Faults caused by misuse or accidental damage.      

Year 2 – 10

Yarm Computers will repair the computer, subject to the above conditions, free of labour charges. The computer must be returned to Yarm Computers premises and any parts used in the repair will be chargeable.

Software related problems

Year 1 – 10

The machine will be repaired free of any labour charges as long as the machine is returned to Yarm Computers with the following exceptions.

  1. Virus’s are not covered under this warranty and are always chargeable.
  2. Faults caused by software other than that purchased from Yarm Computers.
  3. Data recovery and backups are not covered as part of this warranty and may incur a charge.
  4. Faults caused by internet hackers are not covered under this warranty agreement

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. The document labelled CUSTOMER REGISTRATION must be completed and posted no later than 14 days after the date of purchase to validate the warranty. As an alternative you may fax the form through to us on 01642 783740 or complete the online form at www.yarmcomputers.co.uk/warranty. Registration via any of the above methods is an acknowledgement that the product was working correctly when purchased and acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  2. This guarantee will be invalidated if the equipment is misused or modified in any way without the written consent of the Company or if any original component or accessory of a type not recommended or approved by the Yarm Computers (hereinafter referred to as the Company) is substituted or fitted, or if operated other than in accordance with the instructions supplied.
  3. The guarantee does not cover consequential or resulting liability damage, injury or loss, however arising.
  4. Should it be necessary to return the product or any part to the Company, the Company must have full details of the complaint. The product must be adequately and safely packed as the company will not accept any responsibility for any damage or loss to the product or any part during transit to the Company.
  5. In the event of equipment being returned which, on test is found to comply with the published specifications; the Company reserve the right to charge a reasonable fee for testing the equipment, handling and for return carriage.
  6. The liability of the Company under this guarantee will be limited to the cost of repair or complete replacement (at the discretion of the Company) of the defective equipment.
  7. Normal working hours are, 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).
  8. Equipment which, in the judgement of the attending engineer, cannot be rapidly repaired on-site, for example in the case of an intermittent fault, may be taken away for workshop repair.
  9. THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER DATA RECOVERY FROM FAILED HARD DISKS, OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS.
    THE USER IS ADVISED TO PERFORM REGULAR BACKUPS OF IMPORTANT DATA.
  10. The warranty does not cover reinstallation of application software or data that was not originally supplied with the computer.
  11. The company will not be held responsible for the material which can be accessed via the internet. Parents should be aware that material unsuitable for viewing by children does exist on the internet.
  12. The Company cannot accept responsibility for any damage or loss inccured through computer Viruses. It is the client’s sole responsibility to ensure adequate protection.
  13. The original disks and CD’s will be required in the event of a hard disk failure, in order to restore a legal, licensed copy of software on the replacement hard disk.
  14. In the event of Yarm Computers having to reinstate a Hard Drive Yarm Computers will not install software other than that supplied by Yarm Computers and will have no part in unlicensed or counterfeit software.
  15. Response times to service calls is always on a “best endeavour” basis, Yarm Computers will not be held responsible for acts of god. This guarantee document is in addition to the purchaser’s statutory rights and does not affect those rights in any way.
